The SUPERPRO Series for late model stock cars will honor its top
drivers from the 2009 season at the annual awards banquet at the
Ramada Inn in Montpelier, Ohio on March 13, 2010.
Tinley Park, Illinois driver Tom Smith will be crowned the 2009
SUPERPRO Champion. Smith had two wins at Baer Field Speedway, six
top five finishes and top tens in all seven SUPERPRO events enroute
to the title. The Smitty's Landscape - Sherwin Williams Ford Fusion
driver grabbed the point lead after his first Baer Field win and led
the remainder of the season.
Stroh, Indiana's Mike Kugler finished runner-up to Smith for the
2009 point title. The JO Mory Chevrolet pilot won at Angola, had six
top fives and seven top tens and finished just thirty four points
behind Smith. Kugler rebounded from a dismal 2008 to record his best
SUPERPRO season to date.
Jason Dietsch finished third in the 2009 standings, just 70 points
behind Kugler. The Dietsch Sales and Service Ford driver won at
Spartan Speedway and recorded five top fives and six top tens. 2009
was also Dietsch's best SUPERPRO season.
Edgerton, Ohio veteran Jack Landis led all drivers with three wins
in 2009 on his way to a fourth place finish. Landis had four top
fives and six top tens in his MHE Ford. His absence at the Spartan
race may have cost him his second SUPERPRO title as he finished only
168 points behind Smith.
Kyle Hayden used consistency to garner a fifth place points finish
and clinch the "Turbo Blue Racing Gas - Corrigan Oil Rookie of the
Year" honors. Hayden had three top fives and six top tens during the
campaign.
Andy Marchiniak was sixth in points with Steven Brooks, Mark
Hankowsky, Kevin Todd and Matt Hall rounding out the top ten. 2007
and 2008 champion Tommy Cook was eleventh followed by Rich Everidge,
Ryan Inman, Hank Tews and Derek Bischak.
Sportsman of the Year, Hard Luck and Most Improved Driver and other
special awards will be presented. Tickets are still available by e
